The younger generations are embracing Y2K fashion in droves. Y2K: What is it? It is a reference to the year 2000 (Y=year; 2K=2000), which was characterized by glitter, bright accessories, sports attire, crop tops, exposed underwear, gloss, and extremely LOW rise jeans.
Celebrities like Rihanna, Bella Hadid, and Dua Lipa, among others, as well as social media influencers on TikTok and Instagram, had a significant role in the revival of this trend that is popular with millennials.
Although there is no disputing that this is one of the season’s most powerful trends, there is a lot of debate about it among fashion enthusiasts, with some embracing it and others battling it to the death (figuratively).
