Hermès is one of the most prestigious luxury brands in the fashion industry. Due to its exorbitant price tag of thousands of dollars and the company’s meticulous selection of its customers, the iconic Birkin purse, one of its high-end products, is a must-have for only a very small number of people (a few years ago there was a waiting list to be able to acquire it).
This renowned bag was designed in 1981 during a chance meeting between Jane Birkin and Jean-Louis Dumas, the director of Hermès, on a flight. The actress and singer’s use of a wicker basket to transport her personal belongings captivated Dumas. Birkin responded that she was unable to find a purse that was both practical and adaptable for her.
The Hermès manager then suggested that they design one together, which resulted in the creation of the renowned Birkin model.
This handcrafted purse is an excellent investment because it appreciates in value over time due to its handcrafted construction from premium leather and materials.
